I need to get my exhaust manifold resurfaced...any machine shop recommendations?

Where are you located?

I do not have any recommendations Paul. But I am curious to hear suggestions.

I used a RemFlex gasket on my 40 manifold, and have to say it is a great product.

Paul, I would look first at the gasket option. I haven't heard of machining an exhaust manifold before. Do you know how warped it is?

Jim phibbs started to replace the gasket but says the metal is pitted to the point the new gasket isnt sealing. It is at b&r machining on clinton hwy and they have had it about three weeks. I talked to the guy over there this morning and he sounded more positive about finding the time to get started on it, so without any other options i guess i am just going to bug the hell out of this shop until they get started. They have a lot of big jobs, and this small one isnt high on their list. Going to try to bribe them w bbq this week.

You are having them machine the intake as well, right? It has to be bolted to the exhaust manifold when they resurface them, otherwise it's not going to fit right.

I just had mine machined last week, but I took it to Somerset, KY, which is over two hours from you. My exhaust manifold didn't seem to be too bad, but the intake was quite warped.

In case you decide it's worth the drive, I went to Cornett Machining. David charged me $100 even to resurface everything, drill out and heli-coil one of the EGR studs, and plug the hole where the heat deflector used to be. It took them just under a week to get to it.

@melt6366 I asked my friend, who's a shop teacher at Anderson Co. He suggested Claxton Machine Shop. 865-945-1135

Well, B & R came through. Cost me some bbq sandwiches to get it done, though!
