I'm picking up a rebuilt M416 this weekend that has been outfitted with 17" rims and 33" tires. It has wheel adaptors so the rims will fit a Jeep JK (the POs tow vehicle). There's no spare with the trailer since the spare on the POs tow vehicle could be used. The PO is including 3 original tires/rims. Maybe a dumb question but.....is there any restrictions on what tire can be used with the original M416 rims? Can I install any tire that can be used with a tube and fit the original rim size? If so, any recommendations?

Do you mean legal ramifications or physical attributes of the wheel well?

I doubt there are legal restrictions regarding tubeless or tube, but the original military rims will likely only work with an inner tube.

I bought my m416 trailer tires from these guys because I wanted to keep the original NDT military look.

As for the physical limits of the wheel well, I don't have any direct experience. I've seen plenty different wheel/tire combos throughout this trailer forum.

Axle swap or adaptors?

A
Have narrowed it down to 18" land cruiser rims for the 416. Weighing benefits of new axle versus wheel adaptors:

New axle-
It's new
Likely a little cheaper than adaptors
No hand brake option
Can upgrade to e-brakes

Adaptors
Flexibility to use either original wheels or land cruiser wheels
Retains hand brake option (which I like).

Any other considerations I've missed or recommendations either way?
