All,

I have come across a M116A3 frame, Axle tires. No bed or box. I was thinking if I changed out the axle (shorted with jeep tires) and flipped the springs and made my own box it may be a good jeep trailer. Does anyone know the frame size and or have any ideas? It is so hard to find a 416 or a 101 now a days.

You comments are much appreciated,

Andy

I think if you swap out the landing gear and surge brake, install an electric brake axle, you would easily shave off 250 #'s.

The frame is stout enough to build anything on, but I'm not sure I would mess too much with the frame size. Just remember if you build a box to allow for 49" between the wheel wells.

Pat,

Thank you, losing 250lb would be great. I would not want to mess with the frame at all. I would like to build a box to sit on the frame that would hold a sheet of plywood as the trailer would be used for camping and general yard work. I would be pulling it behind a jeeps I was hopping to keep the W under 72 inch by removing the military axle and installing a 3500 lb axle.

Again, thanks for the comment, it helps.

Andy
