Well, I am an official M101 owner! Our shipment came in on Friday (PANZER, Nolen, and I all split the shipping for 3). Thanks, Koffer!

I am about to start tearing her apart and sanding and repainting everything from the drums to the leafs to the body. The trailer is in perfect condition, and should look brand new with paint. She has some minor surface rust.

My question is, have any of you repainted your using the Rapco/Gillespie Coatings paint? I hear that even the rattle can paint gives it a good finish, but I want to do it with a Binks gun and a compressor. Do you guys see any reason why this would not be a good idea? Any other recommendations on places to get military paint? Rapco was recommended on the Yahoo M101 Group. There seems to be some excellent information there, by the way.

Also, are these trailers painted with CARC? I hear that it can be hazardous to sand this without a lot of protection. I need to make sure I get all the proper gear to do this.

My plan is to keep the trailer "stock" as far as colors and tires. I will add my hi-lift, NATO fuel cans, and Mombasa tent when the resto is complete.

Thanks--

Carc paint

Yes, they are painted with CARC. US mil vehicles are supposed to have "CARC" and the date it was painted stenciled near the data plate, but I guess the CDN military doesn't have the same rule. CARC is not near as hazardous in the removal as it is in the application. Make sure you wear a good dust mask/filter when you sand large quantites or when sanding small areas in confined spaces. If I can add my two cents, CARC is a really good coating, it is basically a two stage epoxy coating Which makes it very tough and resiliant. If your over all paint job is good you may want to try to use it as a base for whatever you painting it to match. Go to Yahoo groups for Canadian M101 and do a search, you find some more info on this topic.

Pictures, pictures, pictures

When you get a chance lets see what it looks like,

:bounce: Sign up at the Canadian M101 group, I am curious to find out what serial number you have, color, ect...

Congratulations and welcome to the M101 owners club - I am not sure how I am going to paint mine yet - I am going to sand of the rough edges and knock off the loose stuff - on some spots I can see the white primer coming through ...

I blasted the carc off my m416. No issues. I'm still as dumb as before :D

I could find little info on removal. Like FeilEOD says it's hazardous going on but not off. Just do you best to wear a respirator or s*** breather.

I plan on going to a heavy duty sandblasting place and stripping it all there.

Congrates on the trailer! I was wondering when you would get one.....

Thanks, brownbear of the north! It took a while to get my hands on an M101 Canadian, but it was worth the wait. I am having trouble posting pics for some reason, but I'll have some up soon.

download infranview. It's woodys favorite.. I use it based on it was recommended by woody here. It resizes photos nicely.
