LX470 - ECT Power light/button - strange issue (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone,

I've owned an LX470 (1998 Australian) for a while now and the ECT light has never worked. I assumed the globe was blown.

Recently when replacing the alternator, having the battery disconnected for an extended duration, the light started working again.

I've had to disconnect the power to fit driving lights the next day. Now the light doesn't work again.

I'm feeling like there's some kind of strange electrical issue going on here for it to suddenly start working, then not work again.
Spamming the switch or pressing harder or obvious things like that change nothing for the situation.


There's also a strange issue with the cruise control where it doesn't like to shift back up to top gear after shifting down a gear. Flicking cruise up one speed seems to wake it up and it immediately bumps back in to top gear.

My ECT light decided to give out a while back, but every so often It will come back on after a day of off roading, only to go out again after a few days.

Looks like it might just be the globe. Techstream shows the switch position correctly.

The cruise not shifting back up must be unrelated. Just figured they're both gearbox related so could be part of the same problem.
