Well what an afternoon.
Yesterday I was going between jobs driving around in my own little world. Driving along and suddenly see red & blue
lights flashing in the rearview and a siren blairing. O Oh better pull over. Copper gets out and tells me I was going 79k's i
in a 60 zone, failed to indicate round a roundabout, don't have current rego sticker displayed and my tires are to wide
and sticking out past the flares.
By this time I will thinking what i d!@khead I am and estimating the $1000 odd bucks in fines. But..... hang on a minute.....
hey mate how's it going. I hadn't bumped into this mate for a while but he is a good bloke. 'He who shall not be named'
grabbed my rego that was in the glove box (yes Doug's Tub) and licence. Checked out the cruiser to make sure it was rego'd
and legit. Came back and told me if it was any other copper in town that picked me up I would have been screwed. I had
broken enough rules to give a copper his daily quota of tickets.
Needless to say when I got home I put the new rego sticker on and had a beer to calm my nerves. Today I went to the
local tyre shop and got them to take off my spacers and put new stick on balancing weights on the rims so they wouldn't
rub on the TRE's. Tyres now within the flares. Also been keeping extra special notice of speedo and indicating.
Haven't had so much as a a speeding fine for years and this was a good wake up call. Could have cost me so much more.
Also booked the cruiser in to get a new clutch next week. The pilot bushing is squealing its tits off and i haven't got time to
fix it. Just saved a grand anyways.
Sorry for the rant.
I should be doing more of this
Has this sort of thing happened to anyone else? Stories of the one that got away
Cheers.
