I called in an experienced hand this time to help pull the tired 1f.

This engine swap is extra special since my dad will be helping on the build. He’s built countless hot rods and had me wrenching since I was in diapers. He will be attending SSS19 with me this year, driving this old thing all the way to Illinois from Bama with him will be a blast!

Although I’d love to keep them all I have to stay focus on my red pig and I do not want my wife to run away from home...

Thanks for mentioning that. I was reading this thread, thinking "Oh Mylanta, my wife would be $h!tting kittens by now!"
She knows if she leaves me unsupervised this would be the likely outcome...

I have a good one, she very rarely mentions my addiction, that said I try to keep it that way lol

Back from the dead.

Time to update this thread. A lot has changed on the pig so I’m just gonna post a lot of pics. I know you guys will hate that...

Pulled the motor and had a friend come sand blast it, I then went and had a body shop mix up the factory ivory color and a good friend spray if for me

Last minute prep for SSS19. I was hoping to drive to Illinois but didn’t have time to do a proper shake down so I played the safe card and pulled it there

The infamous SSS pig I created to be awarded to @cruiserjunktion

Messed around and picked up this 69 pig around New Years 2020. Was planning on making her road worthy but changed my mind and list her on eBay right at the start of the “pandemic” sold for cheap

Unfortunately while driving on the trails of Shawnee, I and most everyone else behind me notice my pig starting to smoke. When I got the 2f the compression number were good so I only did a HG job on it, big mistake. As my dad told me “if you’re gonna rebuild the top end, always do the bottom too”, but due to a lack of time I was pushing at the last minute (as always) to have her ready for SSS19. It only worsened when I got home.

Over the past several years I’ve owned many old cruisers, all with either a 1f, 2f, or 3fe but I’ve never owned one with a V8 (other than my 100). It’s always been a thought to do a V8 swap like the great Deo but time and money is always a factory. Of course LS comes to mind or maybe even a 6bt, but again...
Then this things comes to Alabama

Nearly rust free Cali pig shipped here by @TachedOutOffRoad for the ultimate pig build. I assisted in the body removal and some of the welding.

but just before we tore into the blue swine I had to drive it. The gm crate motor fired right up, the tired 700r4 trans was near toast but even with a weak trans the small block just felt right. It was my first time driving a v8 pig and man what a difference. I gladly took the frame and drivetrain back to the shop, the blue pig had front and rear disc brake axles that would roll right under for drum 40.

Now before you give me crap, hear me out. I had just rebuilt a 2f with sniper and it was great until it started smoking, I pulled the motor. Still in need of a 2f/4spd for my 40 I had an idea. What if I do a full rebuild and put the pig 2f in my 40? Then what would I put in the pig? Timing was a major factor, I had a already running 350, rebuildable 700r4 and power steering components all still intact, why not throw it in the pig? And so it began.

The old hotrodder in me couldn’t just leave it stock. I installed a small cam, lifters, intake, and headers

Next was to add power steering, I basicallyused and copied the old setup on the donor frame
