Yes, A single lip seal is designed to prevent oil from escaping in one direction only, a double lip seal would be a better choice for this application IMHO.
Called @cruiseroutfit and ordered new seals all the way around for TC and a knuckle rebuild. Ole girls gonna be leak free again soon!

In other news.. my sister-in-law made me this sweet puzzle so while visiting with @wngrog I passed him one as well.

Build LS with 4L80E VS add Holley sniper to my 350 with 700r4?? That is the question.
 
LS all day every day and never look back.
I'm in this camp, had 327 in my 40 and hands down the LS is far removed from an old small block. I know nothing of the Sniper which seems to be good, but I'd rather start with something superior than try and make up later.

Just like the small block Chevy the older flat head Ford is a great engine and will always hold their place in history as a the go to engine of their time, we are living in the 21st century now and the LS is the clear choice if you want inexpensive reliable power, trying to modernize and older engine is literally the definition of polishing a turd.

With the exception of the Toyota nerds that march to the beat of their own drum I see no reason to buy a Sniper fuel injection system for an old technology engine when for about the same money you can buy a modern engine that is light years ahead.
