LSLC Christmas Charity 2009

We’ve decided at the last meeting that the charity that LSLC is going to support this year is Operation Comfort Operation Comfort - Helping Wounded Military . For more information on what it is about and why we are supporting this, see Mr. Reiss’ post here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/tx-lone-star-land-cruisers/330742-atttention-all-lslc-owners.html

You can donate directly to them via the information on their website, or you can send the money to LSLC and we will add it to the check we will be sending down on December 12.

In addition to whatever money we collect, we will add $1000 from Lone Star Land Cruisers. Thank you for helping us support this important organization.

Has there been any talk about having a parts auction to add to the donation? I know we have done that in years past.

We haven't, but we certainly could. If someone wants to head this up, feel free. I probably won't be at the next meeting - I'll be travelling that day.

I'll help do that.

let's make it simple. next meeting(december), everybody bring your stuff, any kind of stuff, and we will auction it off. bring cash, and Chris(if it's ok with him) will collect payment from you as you win the item. all proceeds to go to LSLC, and to this charity(40/60 sound fair?) for this year? what say the group?

And Butch, guess we will need a trailer to do the auction from, as we've done in the past, as well. though it doesn't necessarily fall to you for this. anybody else want to bring the trailer/auction platform?? :)

(40/60 sound fair?) for this year? what say the group?

We don't need the money. I say make it 100% The $1000 I mentioned before is right out of the LSLC checking account. We should have plenty left over to front Roundup expenses.

After conferring with our new BOD elected last month, it was unanimously decided and signed into law by our new President Aggie that TTR is not only going to move our meeting to that night, but we will bring junk to auction off, AND....

A check for $1,000 to match LSLC's contribution. :)

On a personal note, this is a very noble cause that really hits home with me, and I am proud to be associated with such a big-hearted group.

The White Trash ain't got no damn money ... what lil' we had we done give away already.

But in the name of our fine club ... I hereby donate 5 hun'erd bucks to this worthy cause. I only wish I could give more.

Please send me one of them PM deals to let me know who to make the check out to and where to mail it. :meh:

:flamingo:

ok, guys. start gathering up those goodies, stop by the bank and get some cash, and get ready to raise some money/clean out the garage in the name of a great charity!
i'm looking forward to selling your stuff, so bring me plenty to sell!!!!

No one was going to correct me on the year in the title? I just noticed it. :o

Nice, I copied it to Facebook and did not catch it either.

Holy s***, you guys are going to make me cry. I have been out of pocket for 10 days and was not expecting this when I logged on. I was pretty bummed after posting that thread, figuring everyone was too busy. Man, I love you guys so damn much. :crybaby:

YEEEEEHAWWWW!!!! You guys are the best, I cannot thank you enough and I can damn sure say we are going to have some really happy folks at Operation Comfort. I will have our guys get in touch with OC and make sure you know where to send the donations.

And an added thanks to Kowboy and Chris for the contribution from your clubs. We'll get 'em all signed up with OC. And again, if anyone can make it down, you'll get some Cobra rides and have one helluva time!

THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART!

Good morning all. I wanted to post an update regarding the OC powerplant that has been built by a Dallas Cobra owner for this. It will be given to the soldiers on Dec 12 for their Cobra build:

This is a 351W Ford and is the most common small block setup for these cars. This engine will produce about 300-325 HP as prep'd, which makes for a lot of fun in a lightweight Cobra. This will be a high-winding engine with tight tolerances that has been assembled with quality and long-term durability in mind.

Count BaerTrax in for $200, like Kowboy asked, PM me where to mail check and to whom we make it payable.
Awesome cause Jim! xxoo to you guys.

For those of you making personal contributions, you can donate in one of the following ways:

1. Go to Operation Comfort - Helping Wounded Military and follow the PayPal link in the lower left hand corner. BE SURE and notate "Automotivation Cobra Build from XXXX Club," indicating your primary club affiliation LSLC, TTR, White Trash.

2. Send a check to Operation Comfort, 4900 BROADWAY, SUITE 400, SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS 78209. BE SURE and notate "Automotivation Cobra Build from XXXX Club," indicating your primary club affiliation i.e. LSLC, TTR, White Trash.

3. Send your money to LSLC and they can add it to to the club donation. Someone can chime in here on how that should be handled.

Lastly, Operation Comfort is going to add the club logos for LSLC, TTR and White Trash to their sponsor webpage. I need hi-res print ready or Vector images emailed to me and I'll get that handled with Janis at OC. At some point I'll forward the names and contact info for each club so she can reach out to you and create a direct contact going forward.

If anyone has any questions email me. Thanks again for all your support.
