Date: 06/23/2009 br br pstrongBLUERIBBON COALITION ACTION ALERT!/strong/p pstrongDear BRC Action Alert Subscriber, /strong/p pstrongLower Trinity amp; Mad River Motorized Travel Management DEIS Available for Public Comment/strong/p pThe Six Rivers National Forest, located in northwestern California, announced the release of their Motorized Travel Management Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Lower Trinity and Mad River Ranger Districts. The Forest Service (FS) is asking for your input during a 45-day public review and comment period, which will end on July 20, 2009./p pThe DEIS displays an analysis of four alternatives, each of which would designate a distinct transportation system. The DEIS maps show the routes proposed for addition as motorized trails and changes to existing system roads and motorized trails proposed under each alternative./p pThe DEIS and maps will be available for viewing at the Forest Service offices in Willow Creek, Mad River and Eureka, and at the Humboldt State University and Humboldt County Libraries. The DEIS and maps are also available on the Forest's website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/sixrivers/projects/ohv/#project./p pA Final Environmental Impact Statement and decision by Forest Supervisor Tyrone Kelley are expected this fall, with a Motor Vehicle Use Map scheduled for release by the end of 2009./p pPublic Comments are Invited on the DEIS. Comments should be as specific as possible. It is also helpful if comments refer to specific pages or chapters of the DEIS. Before commenting, the public is urged to review the DEIS, including appendices and associated maps, and learn more about the current status of the project and the comment process at one of the public workshops.nbsp;br / nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; br / strongSend Written Comments To:nbsp;br / /strongnbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Travel Management Teambr / nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Six Rivers National Forestbr / nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; 1330 Bayshore Waybr / nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Eureka, CA 95501/p pComments may be hand delivered to the Travel Management Team weekdays 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the front desk of the Six Rivers National Forest Supervisor's Office, Mad River Ranger District or the Lower Trinity Ranger District./p pstrongSend Electronic Comments To:/strongbr / nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; comments-pacificsouthwest-six-rivers@fs.fed.us/p pPlease put quot;strongTravel Management/strongquot; in the subject line of e-mail comments.
