I recently saw an FJ with a low profile roof rack that appeard to be hinged as to have the ability to increase the height of the basket. Anyone know of a manufacturer that might carry these? Seems to be a great idea for anyone with a lift who may have issues getting into their garage or a parking garage for that matter.

The only low profile roof rack that i know of is made by All Pro but in the pictures they have on the website it is too little to tell if it is hinged or not.
I don't know of a hinge roof rack, but there is a gobi low profile. Look under the FJ parts section on the Man-A-Fre website.
i know gobi has one for the FJ its called the stealth
Sergio at Baja Racks told me that they are planning to build a low profile basket that will be purpose built for the FJC. I have no idea when it would be available, but encouraged him to get on with it.
Mudrak has been contemplating a low profile bar set that could carry a basket or a tent. I do not know status, but have seen a prototype and it is very nice work.

We have African Outback racks that are very low profile for the FJ. We are fitting the first production one on Monday. If everything is like we planned it, I will take pics and post on our site. We just want to make sure the drawing etc was implemented correctly by the people in South Africa.

Thanks for the info. I believe it was the Gobi Stealth that I saw. I assumed it was hinged due to how low the sides were - or maybe it was just me thinking that would be a good idea.
