Hey man glad you joined the forum!!! Nice to see a fellow saskie boy in the mix! You havent seen my 42 around town yet? We chatted on fb awhile ago haha.

welcome to Mud ... I bought a rear sill from Awl_Teq for my 40 ... he's an artist and good to deal with ... another option is a 2x2 steel tube that is a pretty close fit and will never rot out again ... ExtremeBends (EBI) in BC is a source for other body parts you may be considering in the future ... I replaced both rocker panels on mine that I bought from RealSteel ... there was a bit of an issue with fit, but in the end they turned out great ...

update and refurbish as you use it ... they're made to enjoy even with their age spots that just add to their perception of immortality ...

Subscribed... Welcome to the forum!!! Glad your saving the 40...

So I got that itch that you guys were talking about, my plan now is to pull the motor out, fix the drivers floor, replace the rear sill, and if I have time this winter I would also like to some-what fix or patch the rear wheel wells. I will be taking the motor to my uncle to get rebuilt.

and, another 40 that will not get a chance to enjoy the outdoors in a while

Just watched your video- got some projects ahead but sounds like she's got a good heart. Look into @Awl_TEQ on here for your rear sill- he does incredible work and is also in the Great White North (Canada)...
HTH,
Will
Awesome, a lot cheaper if I buy parts from home(Canada). Shipping and duty suck once you go over the border!

Here's what I told a new Land Cruiser owner the other day down at the Broken Birfield Bar during Happy Hour which, by the way, runs from 1pm to midnight .
"OK, here's what you gotta understand, you will find seemingly insurmountable obstacles along the way. You gotta tackle 'em, work 'em, curse 'em, then step away from 'em. Don't give up on 'em. After thinkin' about 'em overnight, grab your tool and go back in. The Land Cruiser is tough but you are tougher and the Land Cruiser respects this. You will have your way. The frozen bolt will come out, The rusty nuts can be loosened, (us old Land Cruiser owners have lots of rusty nuts and the problem can be overcome.)" " But it's worth it..You take care of it, it will take care of you."......Hey Honey! Bring me another beer!
That is awesome! I am willing to jump right in, let this old girl teach me a thing or two. I've never pulled a motor before nor have I owned a vehicle this old. I feel like I'm going to have a great time bringing this Fj40 back to life!

Exactly! She'll be out of commission for winter, but I want her back up ready for adventure by spring.

And I had to obviously make a huge mess, that coolant is really hidden in the block. Thought I drained it all lol (yes I need absorb all in my garage)

I never searched how others took their transmission and transfer case out, so I figured this should work. And it did alright. Next time I'll probably try and take out with the motor and all intact.

My mechanic has just let me know that he can not find Pistons 030 over along with rings to match, camshaft, lifter, and oil pump. Anyone recommend best place to find this stuff?

RUST RUST RUST, rust everywhere! My father and I are currently cutting the rust out and trying to come up with a plan. We have a 4x8 piece of 18 gauge steel, a sheer to cut the steel. And I guess we will attempt to fabricate ourselves. There will be pieces that we can't do ourselves, like the rear sill, or maybe even the rear fender brackets.

Coming along man!!!

Id be looking for complete sides and floor patches for it. real steel cruiser parts make a great product. As far as the engine where are you having it rebuilt? Pistons are now "unobtanium" Lots of threads here on mud. Source all the parts yourself here then tak then to your engine builder. A good running 2f is pretty easy to find up here in canada for cheap. There are vendors here on mud that sell complete bolt kits.

Im actually taking my 42 out for a rip today be on the lookout hahaha!

YOu know im local so id be glad to help you find anything your after.

After making calls all over Saskatchewan I could not find a single thing for the 2f, I happened to call 4wheelauto.com from Edmonton, and after searching for a week or two Dan found me everything I needed. He had to source all this stuff from 4 corners of the world. For the most part it's all original Toyota parts, none of that jap crap stuff.
