Hey Star City crew - I just sent our college freshman to Lynchburg, VA - about 5 hours from me - in our 2002 100 Series LC. I've had the truck about 3 years, it's got about 240k on it, and I had it checked out pretty thoroughly recently to address any known issues.

Just put in a reman Toyota steering rack, it's had the Heater T's replaced, tires/ brakes are good, new battery/ alternator, runs good - no immediate known issues.

But - if there is a future issue and it needs service in Lynchburg - can anyone here recommend a qualified, independent Yota shop who knows what they're doing re: 100 Series repairs? Thanks for any input!!

@Sandman434 any recommendations?
Unfortunately I do not for a specifically Toyota shop. Aid Tire on Timberlake is where we get “basic” work and inspections done. I have had them do a few things on the 100 there and trust them for maintenance items in general. I’ve done a good bit on the 100 myself at home (steering rack, shocks, springs, etc).

Some of the bigger items like timing belt and water pump I’ve had done at Haley Toyota in Roanoke. Have not had great dealings or heard positive things about Berglund in Lynchburg.

@DawnpatrolCBNC I live in Lynchburg and if such a need arises and I can offer any assistance, please let me know!

Hey Sandman, sorry I am just seeing your post. Thanks for the response and for your offer to help! I have good shops where I live and can do preventative maintenance here over college breaks.....hoping the 100 will behave while in Lynchburg and driving home. I try to only use Toyota dealers as a last resort but thanks for the tip about Haley in Roanoke. I'll reach out if any need arises.....trying to plan for the future! Thx again

@Sandman434 has good luck with Haley dealership. I avoid them due to 30% mark up on MSRP parts. Not knocking them and I have used them in a pinch for parts I needed now but will avoid if at all possible.

I did get “lucky” with them when I had my timing belt and water pump done. I bought the AISIN kit from Rock Auto, intended to do it myself, but called their service department and they were willing to do the work with those parts. So while that was still the most expensive service I’ve had done there, I did save quite a bit on the parts side.

Thanks, @Comet. I typically buy my OEM parts online from Ourisman Toyota in Richmond VA - they seem to consistently have the lowest online prices. Then I bring the parts to my trusted shop and they install them, if it's something I can't do myself. Buying parts at a local dealer is a last resort.....I agree, it seems like parts at dealers run about 30%+ higher vs online.

Also get a lot of my parts from Ourisman :wrench:
