Anyone know of a good paint shop that won't rape without insurance work? I poped the rear tailgate on my 80 and it's beyond what my PDR guy can work. Also I want the fender flares and a fender on my mini truck re-sprayed. There seems to be a ton of "collision" centers in the San Antonio area and I'm leary of pricing since they all seem to be in the business of insurance work. Anyone in Austin maybe???

Try BBB body and paint near I-35 and Weidner. Talk to Troy, he's the owner.... A little pricey but does good work.

It would be nice to get a cheap price, but I think with paint work you get what you pay for. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to swing by and talk to Troy then. I just don't like pulling up to a shop and before you get out a guy is walking out with a clip board wanting to write up an estimate. That to me is a guy driven by insurance work and I doubt I'll get a fair price.

I've not found anyone yet I can rave about. Seems to be a lot of fly-by-night types in the auto body business. Let us know if you find a reputable source.

I do paint work here in Austin if your interested. I don't do it for a living anymore, just on the side. I used to work for Body Tek and they got bought out by Caliber collision and it went to hell in a handbasket. I make more money spinning wrenches so I'm happier. Pm me if interested.
