I'm looking for anyone thats been running Long's beadlock kits for a while. How have they held up? Fit and installation? Tire centering?

I'll be putting them on 15x10 steelies, 3.5 BS, spacers rear, IFS kit front, hydro assist steering (thanks Mike!)
:edit: Tires are 38.5x14.5x15 SX's

Do yourself a favor and get a set of 8" wide rims instead..

Rascall just put a set of his locks on his 40. They worked great out at the hammers.

a 10" wide rim will go more like 11" wide or so with the weld on beadlocks. That makes enough room for a 18" wide tire.

yeppers...nice locks, buddy around here loves his, but 10" rim is too much for 14.5's once you add the 1" for the locks....

I've had mine for about a year, and they're doing well. some gouges in the ring, but by using regular hex bolts, it's easy to still get a wrench on them..

I used some of that roofing caulk on the inner bead, and I've been around 4-5 psi on some good sidehills with VERY broken in SX's (38.5x14.5), haven't so much as burped a bead. (I already had 15x10's though)

If you're buying the wheels though, I might go with 8" for the height of the tire...

I don't think Bobby's kit adds as much width as the old style rockstomper ones did... around 1/2" is what I remember.

Boby's and scotts weld on the same way..

Both add roughly the same width..

A little different.. Bobby's goes inside the wheel lip... Rockstomper's goes on top of the wheel lip... I think I remember measuring mine at 10.5" wide when I was done. Maybe 1/2" less that the rockstomper ones..

Like Mace said, roughly the same.. close enough for government work.. :D

What can I say, I do work for the govt ;)

Before the Hammers - they aren't quite so pretty now...

15x10 MRW wheels, 38.5x12.5 TSL-SX's, 2.5 backspacing.

Something to think about... With the backspacing that I have I blew an inside bead at about 4psi. These are reverse cut wheels.

Thanks for the info guys. I'd love to buy MRT's or Allieds but the money just ain't there. The search is on for 15x8's. I'm gonna stick with the 3.75 BS and run spacers til I can get the 60 axle built, probably this winter. Looks like I'll save ~$200 building my own!

Rascal - are those the 4" TJ flares? I GOTSTA get one of those yellow stickers too

Mike

Wheels got here today, your standard black rock crawler, 15x8, 3.5 BS, standard cut off a 60 series. Beadlocks were ordered Friday from Longs', should have shipped Monday and be here by the weekend.

Really glad I ordered the Long's....shipping is included in the price (which I didn't know) as is the hardware. I looked at the $220 kit on eBay but by the time to figure shipping ($65) and hardware (~$100) the Long's are at least $50 cheaper! Not to mention a TT and TLCA business. Can't wait to get started o them!!!

sorry for the stupid question, ha ha;

i know that 15x8s are cool for 12.50s normally,
but would i be better suited to get 15x7s so that the added ~1inch from the beadlocks would be aight with 37x12.50s?

i only ask because i don't have much/any experience with extremely low air pressure...

My tires are 14.5 wide so I went with 8's. I would think that with 12.5's 7" rims would work better. Also the Long's kits add about half an inch as they are recessed into the wheel lip instead of on top. This write-up on PBB really helped me understand the kits allot better.

If anyone cares- just talked to Terra- and Bobby is discontinuing the beadlock kits. As of an hour ago- I got one of the last 5 sets of 4 (15"). If you order anything, make sure and thank them for advertising in Toyota Trails. I also got a set of 27 spline super Longfields for the never-ending FJ45 project. Later, Luke

Oh crap! I need one of the old style rings to convert my spare wheel, since one of my wheels is bent, and needs to be relegated to spare duty... Gonna call him today.

Wow, I'm glad I ordered mine. They were pretty easy to mount and after the first one the rest went by quick. I just put them on yesterday so the only driving is backing out of the garage and back in since I dont have brakes, but other than that they seem plenty strong :D
