We had about 4 inches of snow here this week in Atlanta, and no infrastructure exists for clearing snow here since we don't frequently get this kind of weather. It had been awhile since I'd had the rear locker engaged, so I thought I'd take the truck out and intentionally put myself into a situation where I'd have to use it, and see if I could get things lubricated. Needless to say, I didn't have to drive very far. Oddly, once I engaged the rear locker, the dash indicator for the ABS also lit up. The light stayed on for quite a while before eventually going off, but made me concerned that either the locker or the ABS might not be working properly, or that there was simply an indicator glitch. Later, my ABS did kick in and seemed to work just fine, and the locker did engage as I noticed both wheels were spinning on the ice. So maybe it was just a temporary glitch? Either way, it does make me concerned that something else might be going on. Anyone else experienced this sort of thing? Thanks, and be safe out there.

yes, that is correct. ABS is disabled when locker is engaged. Although mine is a retro fit, it should do the same as I have the same 4wd brain installed. I do not think my ABS light goes out. I have to check that again.
I was driving around in the snow as well as we had lots of fun white stuff.
here is day 3,in our neighborhood everything is now icy.

I will have this looked at then. I used it again yesterday and both the locker and ABS dash indicators were on. I'll also consult the manual. I just don't ever remember the ABS light coming on when the locker was engaged when I've used it in the past and am afraid something is wrong.

we have had that wonderful white stuff on the ground since early december. and my FJ40 is a tank. I am waiting to look at a 00 4runner next weekend before i can play with my locker (if I buy it that is)

good to know though, even thought I probably dont need the locker till we get more snow or I go playing in it off road.

Yea - the light should be an indicator that ABS is not functioning, which is by design. As long as the light turns off when the locker is disengaged, you're good.

Awesome. That's what I needed to know. I won't freak out next time I see it light up then - unless the locker is off. :-)

Thanks guys.
