LJ78 | Engine light flashes vigorously when ignition is on. (1 Viewer)

I had the strangest thing happening this evening.

As I drove, the volt meter started jumping a bit and all of a sudden the engine light came on (few random blinks, almost like a electrical short occurred).

I ended up shutting down the engine, and then the following happened when I started the truck:

- Engine light blinks vigorously on and off when the ignition is on, but very fast. This is not an error code at all.
- When I start the engine, the blinking stops but the engine light has this very dim glow to it.

I suspect this is the alternator. Will do some further testing over the weekend.

After checking every sensor and cable, I thought it was time to check error codes. Should have done it first!

I found my diagnostic port dethatched and filled with water. My bad as I never attached it correctly to the bracket when I changed the head.

After a quick blow out - all is good
