Okay, school me on Lipo batteries and chargers

My son has a ECX Rucks that I just upgraded to a MambaMax pro ecs and brusheless sensored 8.5 turn motor.

Theoretically, this setup should let him do approximately 60 mph (with proper gearing) using some 4S lipo batteries. But wading through the differences in batteries is confusing at best.

The NImh batteries we currently have use around 5100 ma/hr 7 cell packs. And are not exactly impressive.

Obviously I don't want to spend money where there is no need to, but want to get a solid battery set that will make his car flat out rip.

Recommendations?

4s would be an overkill and would definitely fry your motor sooner than you think. You will see the wind on the motor popping out.
I have a castle mamba combo on my slash and im only running 2s.
YES, with 3s it rips to 80mph but I don't do that often, only when showing off.

I run it on the tracks with 2s 6000mAh with 60-120C rating burst. Now I use the 3s when bashing and it pop willies on half throttle..

Try valuehobbby.com and they sell cheap car batteries, hard case.

You should also try less teeth on pinion gears and more on spur gear if you want more uumppphhh/torque. If you want top end speed, go vice versa.

Hope this helps...
