As previously mentioned, I am doing a BUDGET BEATER build, because I do NOT have a choice. But, I know it is going to be great.

I bounced a couple of messages back in forth in my A/C Conversion thread, but I wanted to ask here and get more feedback. Someone in the A/C Conversion thread said they did multiple layers of Raptor Liner and Lizard Skin, which is great and I bet a GREAT finished product, but I still don't know it they sprayed it, rolled it, or brushed it, AND what the prep process was like?

Ideally I would love to blast the under carriage clean and spray the underside of my FJ40 as well as the frame & suspension (as much as possible) with a really good Undercoating like a truck bed liner and Heat Reducer and Noise Reducer on the underside, and also have the floor pan blasted clean and then sprayed the same way, with a noise Reducer, heat Reducer, and protective liner / coating. So... my questions are...

1. Does it have to be done somewhere with an Air Compressor and air tools, or can it be brushed and/or rolled in? Since all of mine (BIG Air Compressor & air tools) were stolen years ago, that will directly guide the path of this part of the project.

2. IF you blasted it clean first, did you do it yourself, or send it out to have it done? I sand blasted EVERY inch of my '34 Coupe, frame off, including up behind the back of the dash where NOBODY would ever see, but I figured if I was doing it myself, I wanted it done right and in 100 years my offspring would appreciate the effort I went through and the condition it was in. Of course, as previously mentioned... it all got stollen.

Bottom line... I'm just trying to figure out that for an older guy with shaky hands and no car lift and no powerful shop air tools, can I do this under & inner cleaning / coating process myself....? Or, do I need to start searching for someone to do it for me while the engine is out and before it goes to the paint booth???

Thank you for any input.

YOU CAN DO IT! all comes down to how much effort and time your willing to put into it. many have rolled their coating with great success. hand sanding and grinding takes time and elbow grease but can be just as effective as blasting

Thank you! At times I tell myself I can, but then I remember the definition of "Middle Aged". That's when your mind makes promises that your body can't keep. LOL, that seems to be me these days. Shaky hands don't help, and the more active I am, the worse it gets.
