I am an ESAB man myself, many good chopper builders use it and worldwide its more popular than Miller. Not saying Miller isnt a good unit but the ESAB doesnt get the respect the Miller does only cause its not blue!

OLd thread but I have had both... I did notice a noticable feel of "like butter" just a smoother feeling machine with the Miller. But that said the Lincoln was fine, in a lot of parts of the country and in certain communities (oil guys for example) they stand by Lincoln and look at you and say "boy, are you queer or something?" when you have a Miller but I agree that it is better. Both, even in 175 levels, are decent industrial strength welders. So I would do what works best for you, $$ wise, really not that big a deal. Also if you do feel like spending a little more, I went with the Millermatic DVI machine, and I LOVE it, it is awesome. Doesn't have the portability of the 175 models which I miss but it is a killer machine. Does both bodywork and bigger stuff too all in the same package.. Andre
