I am trying to put in a remote starter in my LJ78 with a 2L-TE. I have all of the ignition wiring put in, but I am having some trouble with the lights and tach signal. I found the wires coming from the light stalk, there are two whites and one red. can I tap into these for the parking lights? I know the red is constant 12 V but I am unsure about the whites. Here is the blurb from the installation manual:

(2) WHITE Wires: Parking Light Flasher
These wires are the COMMON and NORMALLY OPEN contacts of the on-board parking lamp relay.
If the vehicle's parking lights are a +12 volt switched system, connect (1) of the White wires to a fused (15A max.) +12 volt battery source, and connect the second White wire to the vehicle's parking light wire.
If the vehicle's parking lights are a chassis ground switched system, connect (1) of the White wires to a chassis ground source, and connect the second White wire to the vehicle's parking light wire

Which method should I use? (sorry for the bozo question, mechanical I am good, electrical I am pretty broke)

Also, where can i get the tach signal? I tried to tap into the tach wire on the back of the guage, but it does not seem to recognize this signal. Where does the tach signal come off of the injection pump? I have about 5 connectors on mine. (two on the side, one on the top, one on the back and one on bottom)

Sorry for the lame questions. Electrical is not my strong suit.
