I was out driving through the snowstorm last night in my 02 cruiser, headlights and fog lights on. The first thing I noticed was high beams are pointless, they really brilliantly illuminate the snow from the windshield out to maybe 2 feet in front of the hood.
How do I get more light further out in front pf the truck? I think right now the lights brilliantly illuminate about 6-10' in front of the truck.

Driving in a storm is similar to driving in fog, just go slow. Pretty much no matter what you do the snow will reflect the light and intensify which then makes it next to impossible to see ( as you experienced by turning in the high beams). You best bet is to try and get the light under the snow and keep from reflecting directly at you. This is where a fog pattern aimed low will help, though how much depends on the intensity of the lights and storm.

And a yellow/amber color should help as well.

Be careful using wider angle output for fog and snow driving. Many lights, if they have a 40 degree pattern that means 40 degrees wide and tall. That's why I like a spot pattern mounted low and aimed low.
