Light bar wiring and OEM switch!
Does anybody have any instructions on wiring a light bar for a 200 series cruiser and adding an aftermarket switch to the interior through the firewall?

And are the recommendations if there’s going to be additional lights added in the future. I have for switch spots! Light bar side lights and rear eventually!

Not cheap, but the switchpros is a great setup. The control head wire can feed through the rubber grommet on the firewall, after removing the plastic connector (directions for how for remove it are included in the instructions). Then all of the wires to your lights are run from the box in the engine bay.

Is there a solution that allows you to replace one of the blank buttons with an “OEM like” light button on the lower left panel next to your knee to turn on and off exterior mounted lights?

I looked into switchpros but don’t want to go all out with a full aftermarket panel, just want a clean oem button.

It’s not clear if you have a tlc or lx?
If a tlc then you have some blanks and can put in a switch from cruiserheads 4x4.
If an lx then you probably don’t have any blanks. In that case the generic solution was recommended can work.
There are also two blanks under the steering wheel at the tpms reset location.
Finally you can spend around $100 and some time and custom some switches into the Lx cubby to left of the wheel.
It’s a bit fiddly but can be done.

I’ve got 2013 200 series cruiser my blank button reserve area is to the right of my steering wheel. If I do one at a time, still need to figure out how to do power hook up and all that. I’m a newbie!

Here is an example. This controls two different lights.

You’ll also need to run two wires per control point thru the firewall grommet at either the driver or passenger side. So four wires for this example switch.
Search around a bit for many discussions on how to approach.

Another thread in the top couple pages has discussion of mounting a control in the sunglasses area. Lots of solutions to this issue.

You can also get a Bluetooth relay and use a phone app and not run wires. That’s what I’ve done the past three years. For non mission critical stuff like lights it is pretty straightforward. Costs about $50.

Grinchy - do those switches work for the LC200 blanks? Looks like they are the right ones but the description doesn’t say 200 series for fitment

Sorry, the 'small' are listed for the 200. That is what I used on my cubby above. However, the 'small' isn't the same size as any other switches on the LX570, so I assumed the 'non small' was the 200 fit. <edit - there are some it looks like the small size on the lx570 to the right lower of steering wheel - the 2x2)

I also suggest contacting ch4x4 with the blank dimensions so you can be sure to get the right size. they are relatively responsive (~ 2-4 hours usually).

Note they do switch styles (single, double), two sizes (small, non small), and type (latching and momentary) , backlight colors, along with the standard caps and also custom caps.

I installed the CH 4x4 LC factory style switch in my 2020 LC200 HE dashboard on the left side of steering wheel. Snaps right in.

I have an Air on Board lightbar switch for LC sized openings, that I never used, if someone wants it. I decided to use a switchpros so this one sat unused. Drop me a PM. I'd "trade" it for a $10 donation to IH8Mud to help keep the lights on.

This thread has been immensely helpful! And it seems like WoolCruiser and I were having the same noob questions.

I just ordered a set of squadron pros that I'm looking to install inside my front grill and use my oem blank switch in the knee panel. With the wiring harness that comes with these lights, what else is needed besides the blank switch replacement to get this working? Also does anyone have instructions on tapping the wires and installation?

This feels like an easy install but I have no idea where to begin and most folks on here opted to go straight to switchpros. Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks guys
