Visited my local dealer, Peterson Lexus, looking for Lexus leather cleaner (71621 50952).

Parts manager, on whom I'd rather not comment :censor::flipoff2::flipoff2:, advised that Lexus no longer was supplying that product or the Lexus leather conditioner (71621 50951).

He went on to say that Lexus had replaced the cleaner with Lexol, for which he wanted $15. I've never biatched much as to Lexus parts pricing, but WalMart sells the same spray bottle of Lexol for ~$6.

I and :princess: have used Lexol forever for horse tack, holsters, scabbards, etc. It's good stuff but not what I'd like to use on the LX.

Can anyone help me figure out the truth...Sewell Lexus on line shows it's available w/ no shortage.

Maybe Beno or Cdan can chime in if they've heard about Toyota obsoleting their cleaner and conditioner.

Thx for any help.

Steve

Id call BS on that too....

We use leather master.
Thx lima bravo...the local Toyota dealer is better by far, and I seriously doubt there's a difference v. Lexus products other than part numbers and labels. I'll report back with what I find.

I also plan on calling the Lexus regional office in PDX tomorrow. Will report what I find.

Local Toyota dealer (good people) confirmed Toyota's version is no longer available, and was advised by Toyota of the Lexol replacement.

I'll also check leather master.

There are a couple of dealers selling the Lexus Cleaner/conditioners on eBay.

Sewell in DFW also has it in stock.

I use Zymol. Cleaner...then the conditioner. works well.

While for a while I greatly cared about using first the Lexus cleaner and or Lexol, the more I learned, the more I realized it did not matter provided not using a cleaner that might hurt the polyurethane.

Especially with vehicles like the LX, the goal was decades of satisfactory appearance. Thus , no using furniture grade leathers and instead using an inpeniterable P/U layer. That said the now almost 15 year old interior in mine looks astonishingly good.

But I am pretty sure that is mostly due it being garage kept as UV will trash any and all materials and is why I am guessing the vast majority of US 100 's that have needed replacement covers hailed from the West.
