Got another one of the fun Megazip boxes in today.........had a few parts for me in it but lots of door pockets so any of you who ordered speaker pods....good news, we will be shipping out on Friday most likely! Exciting stuff. I think I wiped out the inventory of door pockets...ordered 28 of them!

We're still sorting thru the door lock conversion to power on #2...it's mind numbing but I'm going to be a pro at knowing the inner workings of both manual AND power 70 series windows and the end of this. We received the power lock assembly/latch for the drivers side today....we were chasing a specific plug in our harness....and we got it. The 76 harness will plug into this assembly and it should give us power locks with remote. Not sure remote is necessary in a 2 door pickup but it's more about the challenge of making it work.

Had to buy a new inner door lock button too....the last bit of oak that was remaining will be replaced with this grey one.

Well hopefully we can keep this one rolling and get it into the wiring phase.......got a couple of really special 70s inbound that I want to not be distracted by. Which will be tough.

Not a whole lot today.....was able to get the Second Skin Audio Heat Wave Pro on the roof and started with some Overkill on the B-pillars. Heat Wave Pro is a foil sandwiched jute material...3/8" I think. Really nice stuff. Used some spray on hi temp contact glue to install it.

Started playing around with the Overkill product I bought from Second Skin(trying to stick with all their products). Overkill is meant to be a decoupler layer....it's a 1/8" closed cell foam that is meant to stop things rattling......door panels, interior panels, etc. Lots of interior panel clips have little foam 'washers' I'm sure that's what they do. Stop the rattles. Thinking about how to do the door panels...maybe I'll glue the foam to the backside of the door panel. Should fit....it compresses really easy.

After packing up all the speaker pods(and a couple overhead consoles) and getting them off to Fedex, we made a little time for #2. Heat/AC went in today....probably for final. Brake master/booster and it's related inner bracing went in as well.

I messed around with seeing how the rear panels fit in the truck with the Overkill foam. Seems to be fine. Will do some trimming on Monday on the B pillars so they're ready. The foam layer behind the panels is going to be pretty impressive I think.

Thinking the headliner might go in next week....need to run some wires up there for the overhead console lights and the rear cab light.

I used Dynaliner behind this panel as a test....1/4" foam WITH an adhesive back. Was looking for something that didn't need glue. It's a bit too much. Will pull it and use my 1/8 Overkill. I feel like there was a little too much pressure on the plastic.

Thought this was pretty cool.....a removable mesh filter for the blower assembly. Got a little upgrade inbound for this.

The old school dash on #1 has the same mesh screen but it's more challenging to get at. When I was running speaker wires I thought I'd check it out and see how it looked. I was disgusted.

Decided to put in a few hours at the shop today....it's been very hard to find time during the weekdays....we're cranking right now and unfortunately running the business comes before playing with my trucks.

Put some of the Overkill under the rear panel...it's neat stuff.

Wanted to put down the stretchy grey carpet on the back wall while I was in there. It turned out really well I think and being that this interior will be grey, I'm thinking it will just blend in back there.

I'm in love with these little stretchy net things. I bought a bunch for the camper truck's canopy since it's all covered in carpet. They really stick well to the carpet(velcro) and they're super handy for stashing little stuff. Cargo space is non-existent on this truck so being able to use every space is important.

Firewall starting to get things going on it. I decided on some heat shielding for it, mainly behind the motor and on the right side where the exhaust will be routed. Will do the tunnel too which means it will probably be time to start getting the sound deadener rolled on the bottom of the cab so we're able to put our heat shielding on.

Where did you get the netting?

Had what I would consider to be a productive day today. Got back some powdercoated parts, installed them, did some wiring for the overhead console as well as the rear interior light and put on the last bit of foam on the A-pillars. This thing is going to be like a tomb inside.

Fresh powder coated stuff is the best.

I may end up running some really dim ambient lighting in the overhead console....maybe amber or green....so we ran an additional wire (the overhead console has 2 touch lights that need power). Unsure of the lighting color in this truck. Maybe the gauges are white? Green seems to always be good in Toyotas. Where the wire bundles passed thru open channels or along the roof, we wrapped them in foam. Just like factory. We ran the wires down the LH B-pillar.....#1 had the wires run down(up?) the A-pillar which was a mistake. The A-pillars covers are so thin that they don't fit as well as they should. Tight fit and I swear I hear something rattling...like a wire on plastic. This will be way better. Getting smarter....

Is this removable filter an OEM Toyota feature? Wondering if I can fit this into my FJ75... looks to be doing its job.

The new truck has a removable panel(airbag dash)....the old style dash doesn't have a removable panel.....at least I don't think it does. Maybe it comes out. I just used a vacuum to clean it.

I bought a new headliner so we've been test fitting wth the old one. The one that came with the truck was pretty dirty...new ones aren't too costly(the one I got was a take-out of a mine truck). Testing the panel fit too with the foam behind it. All is good. Fun to see the interior start coming together.

The foam decoupler layer really solidifies the plastic parts. Pretty amazing.

You can see the wires for the overhead console poking out of the headliner right above where the mirror goes. Zero concerns cutting the test headliner.....not so much when it comes to cutting the new one. Ha.

Got this done today....really happy how it turned out. Very nice stuff. A bit tricky to work with(we made patterns out of paper to see how it would lay down). Amazing how many hours go into things that seem so simple. We have a little bit left to do on the driver's lower area. Probably won't be able to do the tunnel with it because I don't think it's going to stick to the spray on sound deadener. Not sure what I want to do there....

All edges were sealed with a special DEI aluminized tape.

Aluminum heat shield on Amazon....gets some really good reviews. If it works, I'd give it 5 stars.

But the mesh screen itself came on both air units?

The mesh screen is factory. I'm sure that they are both removable. The newer style one that is on the airbag dash is removable from the front of the unit as a cartridge. I would guess the other one comes out from the top...kind of like a tray.
