Guys,

I just got back in town and found a puddle of fluid (not grease) around my front left tire. Seems to be coming from the ball joint. Obviously I have a worn seal. Anybody with experience know what the solution is? Is it hard to fix?

I am planning to take the rig to Greenville this wknd with boat and canoe- do I need to tend to it before I even start it or should I fill up the diff. and tend to it when I can?

Thanks.

You need a knuckle rebuild kit w/wheel bearings.
Actually the part that is worn is the inner axle seal that comes with that kit.

What needs to happen is replacing all the seals & wheel bearing on both sides- which if one side is this bad the other probably is also.

 Call the local Toyota dealer ASAP in Brandon-TELL THEM YOUR A COTTONLAND MEMBER & YOU GET A DISCOUNT on the parts.

If you have any questions call me....

Thanks,

I just ordered the knuckle gasket set as well as ball bearings for both front knuckles. $255.78- does that sound about right? Should be in tomorrow or Wednesday. If anyone is available for installation assistance I will provide beer and burgers!

Hopefully I will get this thing knocked out before Friday.

Ben-price is in line.

Make you a deal....bring the truck & parts out to the house & well use the AC shop. Any tools we will need are here!:grinpimp:
(oh yea still bring the beer & burgers)

:bounce2: OK....last minute CLC wrenching event at the shop!:bounce:

be sure to keep an eye on your diff fluid level.

I'm gonna miss this crew!

All right, guys- I have the parts in. Who is up for wrenching and cold beer at fj60guy's place???

I will even pick you up on the way (so you can't leave early).

Well, we started tearing into it and realized that Toyota had shorted me on the bearings, so no progress on the leak. We did get my exhaust bushing replaced, my crimped exhaust pipe fixed, and greased up the ball joints.

The best, though, was driving Mr. Sepaugh's 60. He took me through a nice little course in his yard. Only in MS! Rear lockers are the bomb!

We are going to rewrench next week, maybe even on the 4th, depending on when I get the right parts in.

Did his "yard" include the mud pit down at the end of pipeline road? I love that place. First time I ever got stuck to the point a headlight was under water.

sand+mud = leaky seals and bad bearings. Oh well????

Later,

True dat. I think I will ride with one of you down to the river next time and save my truck! Duh.
