Thinking about getting a LC100 or 1st gen Sequoia and doing some light mods like bumpers/sliders/lift etc for light wheeling duties( have owned many crawlers) I want something amazing for road trips and I can leave out west for ski season and camp inside of. Right now the camping would probably be mostly just me and my snowboard gear etc but either of these platforms will have the 3rd row ripped out, a platform with drawers added and a prinsu-style rack to hold stuff. Found some LC's I really like but modded sequoias are pretty hard to find so just searching everywhere but want to make the right decision. When this isn't in colorado or Utah it will be my daily in Nashville,TN to keep miles off my diesel truck and fun car

Tree no question. More room, 1/3 the cost, more versatile transfer case, better ride. Exterior size wise, they're within an inch or so of each other in height and width, with the tree having about 6" longer wheel base and another 6" behind the 3rd row. With the 2nd row folded up, you can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood back there to give you an idea of the acreage. Find an '05+, though. The extra power and extra gear in the tranny make a huge difference, and you get a Torsen center diff instead of the open diff that the '01-'04s got (they all have CDL switches that operate the same as the 7 pin mod does on the 80s). The suspension and running gear is lighter duty than the 100, but if you're a responsible off roader and know when to say when, then you won't have a problem.

I switched from a 06 LC100 to a 07 Sequoia as I wanted the extra leg room when camping. I love the LC but I was doing less wheeling and more camping and fishing, so wanted to be a little more comfortable and wanted the xtra space. Here is my set up, I have added a few more items to it so I need to update this post but this setup works. Chewbaca 07 Sequoia
