My speedo is playing tricks. It just lies down and refuses to move. Once I get to about 30mph - it suddenly wakes up and leaps into action. Where to start? Can anyone tell me where the speed sensor is or any likely causes

Thanks, Jim

Remove the cable at the back of the transfer case (pull the cable to disconnect from the head, then back it out with a reversing electric drill), clean it with white (lithium) grease, and reinsert it. Bet that fixes it.

No problem. It's my favorite easy fix. Seems like it will be a big deal (pull the dash to get to the speedometer head....), and then, voila, fixed. :)

I was already to take the dash apart - what a relief not to.

Have you got an easy fix for a broken water pipe - the one that squirts the rear window? I have traced the break to where the pipe leves the truck body and enters the lift up tail gate. Can't see how to fix it - isa hose replacement the only fix..?

Jim

You could get some connectors and a length of replacement hose and try patching it, but for the amount of work that would entail, just replace the whole thing. If you remove the vent cover, the hatch dome light and the access panels on the liftgate it's not so bad. I duct-taped the new hose to the old one and carefully pulled it through, took about half an hour.

i just have a break in my hose, can i just replace the hose with something similar? or do i have to order a new hose?

Vacuum hose should suffice.
That's what my front washer hoses are comprised of right now. :)
