I won't be going back to Haspin until they change their rules. Last I knew they, allowed alcohol, have no helmet rules, trails are mostly mud and poorly marked, allow wheeling 24/7, allow camping anywhere in the park, and all vehicles are allowed anywhere. This equals a bunch of helmetless drunkards on quads ripping through your campsite at 2a.m. That's not a joke, it happened to us the last time I was there.

Even if they changed the rules, I doubt it'd be a fun place since it is all mud. Course I also broke ALL of my steering the last time I was there, so I may be jaded.:grinpimp:

I have heard alot of these same stories about Haspin. I agree about the mud thing I have no desire to run through mud all day either.

I feel like we need to support our local off road parks as much as we can. Instead of just swearing off a park alltogether lets try to give the owners constructive critizism. Through our comments and support we can try and sway operating procedures to include saftey and more diverse terrain.

I have not been to Haspin myself but I have been to other parks that could have been alot better had it been for saftey consideration and errosion control.

Working with the state on the Interlake property was a challenge at first becase of the way they wanted there trails layed out. After we came to realize how much better the park could be without all of the water problems it suddenly wasnt that big of a deal to lose some obstacles.

anyway im ranting sorry

Same here on the Haspin Acres saga. I didn't enjoy the KAOS. It has been a couple of years since I've been there.

By the way, thanks for voting me into the club. I hope my off road prowess is up to par.

Also if any other truck owners in the group, I am cleaning out my shop a bit and am junking an old trail rig. An 82 standard cab truck. I'm keeping the frame and springs and axles. Also keeping the drive train. But there is a good hood, slider back window, door glass and wing windows both sides. Gauge cluster and steering column, door handles and a few under hood parts, and grille. If anyone is interested it's free stuff. if not it goes to the scrap yard. Just let me know. I'm in Anderson.

Thanks again for the vote in, lookin forward to the next meeting. Later, Tony.

I will be the first to admit that there needs to be some more rules at Haspin Acres. That is why we have this event in the middle of the winter. Very little quads and dirt bikes.

On a positive note, the owners at Haspin are trying to get more restrictive on the rules. It is going to take some time to get all of the regulars converted over to obeying the rules. I agree that we need to let the owners know we would like to see better enforcement of the rules and NO alcohol!!!!!!

Hello,
I am with the Fat Boys Jeepers and I would like to invite everyone to come
over to Haspin Acres (Laurel, IN) on January 27th for our 4th Annual Groundhog Trailride
at 9:00 a.m. We will be hosting this event for the Indiana Four Wheel Drive
Association (www.ifwda.org) AND GUESTS. You will need to pay your
$13.00/person admission at the gate and then come down to the shelter pass
the parking lot. Look for the IFWDA and FBJ banner. All we ask is that you
sign-in with us and pickup up a lunch ticket. It looks like we are going to
have chili and hot dogs around noon. Donations will be accepted.
Although trailrides will be informal, we will have some guided trails for
those that don't know the property but feel free to take off on your own.
Please RSVP with Chef Toni ( rickandtonireece@yahoo.com ) if you plan on
attending and eating with us. (That way we don't run out of food.)
If you have any questions you can contact me at snkjeeper@aol.com or Rick
at rickandtonireece@yahoo.com .
