Looks like the Cash for Clunkers bill passed. Now everybody is going to be dragging there rusted Land Cruisers out of the woods just to trade them in for the $4500 Gov't credit.:rolleyes: It sucks because the dealers have to shred them in an effort to get our beloved gas guzzlers off the road.

Maybe I will go find a $500 clunker and trade it in on a TDI Sportwagen. That plus the $1500 clean diesel tax credit would give me $6000 off a $23k car that gets 44mpg.

Sounds like a good idea that tdi appears to be awesome, sorry I said something nice about a german auto here on Jap Valhalah.:cheers:

No I'm still around :flipoff2::cheers::bounce:

The vehicles don't qualify if older than 25 years, must have had current regristration for past 12 months, as well as have been insured for past 12 months.
Don't think we'll lose many trucks from this.

Obubba's definately going to tank us though.

None of it will matter.....The consumer thats looking for the credit will get lost in the dealership shuffle.....
The consumer that isnt looking for the credit will do business as usual....
Havent you ever seen the "$xxxx.00 for your trade! Push, Pull, or Tow!" ads?
This credit is for the auto industry......Not the consumer.....It'll give "credits" to the dealer principle....

Not if they are smart. This is just like a rebate, has nothing to do with the voodo trade shuffle that dealers do with the money. You should be able to treat it like you are paying cash and then get your $4500 rebate off of everything else.

As far as cruisers getting shredded, it won't happen to any of the cool ones, as it has to be made in 84' or later. And my plan won't work because you have to have been driving it for a year. Sounds like a good way for someone driving an old jolopy to get $4500 off a new $8000 Suzuki.

That's funny that Toyota is advertising a 2 door FJ60 getting crushed for the Clunker program. I would be curious as to how many beloved Land Cruisers are going to bite the dust with this program.
