Hello everyone. I am new the group and have some specific questions about what to look for when buying 1990-1997 Land Cruiser.

How many miles is too many miles to purchase one with? This will be my daily driver & my toy.

Is there anything I should look for that would help my purchase?

I feel the best people to ask are current owns and enthusiasts. I hope to join you as an owner very soon and I will upload pics of what ever I buy.

Thank you for the help.

Follow this link...it is a must read for anyone considering an 80 series.

Remember that 91-92 FJ-80s and 93-97 FZJ-80s only look similar...they have very different engines/trannies/brakes etc.

Do you think that I could have significant life left in the cruiser if I bought one with 175,000 to 220,000 miles? I have seen several with more than 300k. Just curious, because I like the FZJ-80's better than the style that came out in 98.

Mine has 185K and I fully expect to get WELL over 300K. It all depends on condition and prior maintenance. I regularly see 80 series Cruisers with under 150K miles up for sale.

The real challenge is finding one in great shape with factory lockers.

I bought mine with 135K
Currently 239k
nothing but regular mx
