After reading and admiring all the glowing reports and great photos I realized I had not posted a report, though I did do one on FJ Cruiser forum my Ace Adventures thread.

Day 1 Doug and I caravanned to Fruita where we met Jim and Bonnie in their sharp looking 55. On to "Bunny Ditch" where we aired down and headed west. After all the rain and snow earlier in the week I expected lots of mud but the trail was quite dry thankfully. We pushed on to beautiful downtown Cisco with out any trouble and light trail traffic, just a few motorcycles. Next up was the Dome Plateau section of the Koko. The latter half of this portion is possibly the most scenic of the whole trail. Drove on to Robert's Bottom to find it pretty busy so backtracked to a real nice site near the top of the road. Jonathan and the twins joined us there a bit later. We had a nice fire and some yarn spinning.

Day 2 broke gray and damp with light showers. Because of the poor visibility we skipped Top of the World but did take the side trail to the Dolores River Overlook for an amazing view. While there Jonathan discovered a short had fried his trailer wiring which meant no trailer brakes for the rest of the weekend. Leaving the overlook the trail gets progressively harder until finally arriving at Rose Garden Hill, the most challenging spot on the Koko. It took us about 1.5 hours to concur this rough half mile, but we got down OK except for a couple of dings in Jim's rocker panels (need some 33's). We rambled on to our cosy camp at Hideout CG. The night got cold so we built up a big fire, broke out some adult beverages and got into more serious yarn spinning.

Day 3 was bright and sunny and warmed up nicely. Jonathan and I continued on the Koko over the La Sals to Moab while Jim & Bonnie headed to Moab on the highway and Doug went on home. Had a good lunch at Zax's then we too headed home. Did some campsite scouting on Onion Creek and Roberts Bottom on the way.

Great trip with great company, but nothing less should be expected of a Book Cliff Cruisers run.

Love that pic going down RGH! If only that idiot would have closed his door.

I think at that point we we're hooking up Doug's winch to pull me backwards off the rock you so rudely kicked up on your way down!

I believe Jonathan was calling himself an idiot, but I have to say here that it is a very bad practice to leave a door open almost anywhere but particularly so on a narrow trail. Think what an obstacle and danger that makes for other trail users and even us when walking the trail. Another concern is that if your truck gets away or another runs into it you might get your door ripped off instead of a hit on the bumper. You would not leave your door open at the mall , why do it on the trail.

^ This. I was referring to my door. ;) I didn't even see that yours was open as well Jim. Ace is right, it's a good practice to get into and I tend to be pretty bad about leaving mine open.

Not that as I was involved in the winching and photo shows I was still at the bottom of that damn hill and soon to make my 4th climb back up!

Got my trailer brakes installed yesterday. Ready to take on RGH again!

For once I had my door closed, It's a bad habit that I have been guilty of myself but getting better at not doing that. :whoops:
