Happy Thanksgiving.

I'm getting ready to order my rebuild kit. Wondering if anyone has experience/ tools/ free time to help a brotha out.

There are so many threads, all with slightly different instructions. This is my first major mechanical adventure, wouldn't mind a hand. I'll provide the beer and deer burgers.

I have tournaments the next 3 weeks, free January 22.

I don't remember how we did mine on my 40, but I may be able to help if you do it at the first of next year, but I am not sure how much help I will be.

I would be prepared for a multi-day event if you do it yourself. I have done mine and with rusty bolts I had to cut and grind a few of them off. After doing a rebuilt once I personally think it is better to let a shop do it. It is a hassle.

I am busy that weekend.

My 2cents.

Ron what do you think?

took me all day to do my knuckle job...never done one before...had a good mechanic telling me what to do and then letting me do it myself. having his wash station and lift was a huge help....but I am anal about getting parts cleaned so I may have taken an hour on each side just cleaning off old grease.

it was an experience for sure...if it is your daily driver I would consider having someone do it that has done quite a few...if not and want to learn then would tackle it yourself and take your time. I would recommend the heavier Aussie felt for the rebuild. Either way I am really slow and I got it done in one day... did not have any rusty bolts as everything was covered with grease from the leaking knuckles...hahaha but then again the FJ60 I used to have did not have any rust on frame and had only been in Colorado when it was bought new and South Carolina few years later.

It is not hard...just very messy and having the right tools helps. Otherwise have lots of gasoline or cleaner, lots of rags, and dont do it in your driveway...move it into the grass or somewhere as you wont be able to keep grease and fluids from staining driveway. Trust me...haha
