So since this is up in y'alls neck of the woods, someone school me on Kelly Flats please. Is it similar to Rampart Range with lots of options for dirtbike/ATV with a few full-width forest roads thrown in, or is it more forest roads/4x4 trails? How busy does it get in the summer, is camping decent?

Thinking about it as an option for a bachelor party camping trip. Hoping to do some dirtbiking, fishing (lake or stream?) and possibly hiking if any is nearby. Any shooting ranges up that way? Worried about snow higher up in the mountains and figured this is a little lower in elevation so snow should be melted a little sooner?

A few obstacles on the trail:
Heart attack hill has some fun moguls to the top and the bypass is a fun climb also.

The Chutes is the most challenging with a gravel road bypass.

The rest is fairly mild, unless it is a wet year. There is a muddy spot with a spring that is supposed to be fixed (Probably next year) to help allow it to be driven without it becoming a bog. This may cause a late opening.

Camping:
Can be packed if you do not get there early Friday, but a nice spot. Campers mainly, but a few tent spots.

Fishing:
You would have to check, but there is the Poudre river right there.

Haven't been to the Rampart range, but I know that Bald mountain trail (one of our adopted trails) and the Red Feather Lakes area has more for OHVs/dirt bikes.

Thanks Bob! I only see one moto-specific trail in that area on the MVUM, so it looks like the trails are almost totally full-width accessible (no other trails for <50" width OHV's). Hm, maybe...

Matt, That area is where I grew up! Once upon a time before the area was butchered up with Wilderness boundary's the whole family and a few others would take over Crowne Point and the only time we kids would come back on the bikes was when we needed gas or were hungry. Fishing is good for Browns and Rainbows on the Poudre. There are many small lakes and little streams that have small Rainbows and Brookies. Great bar just down (east) from Kelly Flats is Mishawaka. Live bands and good times! KF is fun and you will enjoy it in your 40 and your scooter but it too is but a shadow of what it used to be. If you can get your party interested in traveling a bit further then head towards Cameron Pass and camp at Chambers Lake. Awesome lake and river fishing and that is the other end of 7 mile so you could rip that trail all the way to the exit of Kelly Flats. From Chambers lake you can head NW another 1/2 hour you can be playing on the Walden sand hills.
