Does anyone have just a standard bar spare wheel carrier that mount directly to the chassis? I was wondering if it has any rattle and also it over-all general performance? This will be for a 100 series but I guess the concept is the same.Thank you in advance for your help.
I am running a Kaymar rear tire carrier like the one shown in pictures on Specter Off-road on my 97 80 series. I am using the carrier that bolts to the stock bumper/frame and I am very satisfied with the quality. It took an hour or two in the driveway to install. The clamping mechanism that holds the carrier closed is very tight and lined with a thick rubber pad to stop any rattles. I have a 315 on a stock rim and a High Lift jack mounted on it. The only modification I would make would be to the cap that covers the bearing at the pivot end. I am looking at a way of permantly installing a grease fitting. Make sure to grease the roller bearing before installing the arm and cap. Hope this helps.
