I am a 65 year old Canadian still tinkering with my Land Cruiser. I have (since new) a 1987 HJ60. The diesel engine is the 4.0 litre 2H, with the addition in 1988 of an Australian made Advance Induction Technology (AIT) turbo system with a water cooled and oil lubricated Garrett turbine plus a large front mounted oil cooler. Timing is as per specs for a 2H engine, fuel pump turned up to match the boost of 10 to 11 PSI. I also installed the original Toyota steel stiffening plate that was in the factory 12HT engine between the lower block and the oil pan. For its size the turbo engine has amazing torque as it is right now and gets extremely good fuel mileage if I don't go over 100 km/h. I am currently installing a modified LC Valve Body to give 3rd & 4th Gear Lock-Up in the A440F transmission see http://www.automatictransmission.com.au/release.asp?NewsId=11360 plus I am also installing a heavy duty Billet Torque Convertor for even more torque.
