1,100 miles around Lake Michigan.

Found some cool back roads on the way up Michigan's left coast.

22 around the Leelanau peninsula is very nice, but deceivingly long. Leave most of the afternoon for it or you'll be dodging deer in the evening.

119 north of Petosky ranks up there with the best roads in the nation. Outstanding.

The Mackinaw bridge is downright scary with 20mph winds.

WI and the UP are meh. (sorry, Yoop)

The Valk ran flawlessly, as always. The wife's Shadow 750 kept up just fine.

Nice. I'm envious that your wife rides. Mine might get on a scooter, but forget anything bigger. Won't ever ride with me. Says if I crash, better only one parent die.

Practical woman.

I can run about 650 in a day. About the same highways or back roads. Highways rack up miles faster, but I find them a lot harder to run a long time. This was a vacation so we ran about 350 a day for the two full days and about 200 on the two partial days.

Where did you go in the UP? Route 2 is as boring as it gets. Actually most of the highway driving is pretty boring up here, straight and long and no view, just trees. You have to get off the beaten path to see the cool stuff, and most of it is in the north, not along Lake Michigan. Fine with me, tourists from Illinois generally just ruin everything anyway. :D

The Michigan west coast is the nicest part of the Lake Michigan shore for sure.

We ran 2 across. It's not the worst UP road I've run. That would be the Seney Stretch.

I'll run the north side when I do the run around Superior.

Tough to believe it's gonna match the tunnel of trees.

You should try the Seney stretch in the winter, when you can't even see the trees, or much of anything else...

Give me some warning and stop for  and tire kicking for sure if when you pass through Marquette...
