Starting to get hot out there. Tons of cool places to go. My weekends are toast for the more weeks. Doing a family trip to big Bear right after July 4th.

Berdoo Canyon is a fun one in or out of the park. Pinkham Canyon is even better in my opinion. There's always Old Dale or the Geology Tour road, too.

I might know a little bit about the area. I think I've wheeled every corner of it.

Last time we were there Old Dale and Black Eagle Mine roads were both closed at the turn off inside the park. The Old Dale mining area can be accessed via Gold Crown Rd off Hwy 62 east of 29 Palms. This area is BLM so camping is free and remote. Also depending on the time of year and moon gives great views of the Milkyway. Berdoo Canyon is a simple trail that gets a lot more traffic. There are a couple of places you "could" camp along it but it wouldn't be ideal IMO. The park itseld has a lot of great hiking trails but it is not dog friendly. Dogs are only allowed in campgrounds and on dirt roads. They are FORBIDDEN on hiking trails as to not disrupt the ecosystem by fooling bunnies into thinking your wild beast is a vicious predator.

I've been out there a bunch too and will be there May 9-12. PM me if you'll be there then.
Old Dale has one short moderate section, and is otherwise easy.
Chap79, how does Berdoo compare? I've only done the north part of Berdoo, which I would describe similarly .

Berdoo is pretty easy. There is one option rock ledge to climb and another narrow section that could be considered a Subaru gatekeeper. Old Dale Rd itself is tame; offshoots like Brooklyn Mine Jeep Trail, Doberman Mtn, and O.K. Mine are more challenging.

Recommendation for trails to hit for a day trip this Tuesday? Stock FJC

It would be advisable to take a SPOT or INREACH if traveling alone. Chit happens or you bump into Mr. Murphy?
Yes will have a spotter in the car. I apologize for misunderstanding your question. I thought you meant if there were other off-roaders with me, which is a no. We are out visiting my cousin, who lives in 29palms. He has a 100 series and a Tacoma but he isn't coming (working on the farm)
