Pretty much what I did was take everything out of my 1996 jeep cherokee and put it all into Farmboy’s old FJ40 Chassis with a lot of cutting and welding. I have only taken it for about 6 wheeling trips since it was built. Here are all the specs:
Engine: 1996 Jeep cherokee 4.0L inline 6 with around 130,000 miles with an aluminum radiator and mounted electric fan. I also have a Fuel cell with external fuel pump. When I put the engine in the FJ40 chassis (About 2 years ago) I went through the engine and put new seals and took the head to get pressure checked and machined. I still have the stock transmission and Transfercase from the Cherokee.
Axles:
Front: Full width Dana 44 with 5.38 gears and a lockrite locker. It has Full hydro steering with 1”x.25” DOM tubing (Single ended Ram). It also has chromoly shafts and chromoly 300M ujoints bought from Chase at ECGS (Full lifetime warranty). I also have warn hubs on it, and also have a new set of Warn premium hubs for a spare.
Rear: 14 Bolt with a Detroit locker and 5.38 gears. It has disc brake conversion done also with a 1/2” thick pinion guard. 2” spacers were added to the rear also due to the wheel spacing of the H2’s.
Suspension:
Front: Rancho Coilovers with 3 link and panhard bar. The front driveshaft is a custom made 2 piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing mounted to the frame and 1350 ujoints ($1200 just to get this made).
Rear: 16” airshocks with triangulated four link. The rear driveshaft is a custom Tom Woods Driveshaft with 1350 to 1330 ujoints.
Tires: 42” IROK’s mounted on Hummer H2 wheels and Stauns (One of the stauns has a tube that needs to be replaced). If I were to guess it would be around 70 percent tread left.
Seats: They are Twisted Stitch full suspension seats with 4 point harness. (Bought these for $1000)
