January 12 Coastal Cruiser Meeting

I too am interested in the course, however my schedule (I work on an 8 day week cycle) means any course that goes on conventional 7 day week cycle (say all Saturdays for 6 weeks) is a huge pita for me. Short, sweet, intensive, 2 days...now that I can dig. What are his options for the course, and how many hours?

btw...thanks for the write-up...

Thanks for the welcome Bill. I met some of you at Cruiser Days 2005 which was my introduction to the club.

Living on the Island, I won't be able to attend most club meetings but do hope to participate in some club events.

As the number of Island members increases we may be fortunate to find someone with the time and energy to organize a satellite chapter, which over time, could evolve into a seperate TLCA chapter. It may take quite some time until there are enough Island members to even consider a satellite chapter.

Hi Steve. I bet there are enough Cruiser owners in the lower 1/2 of the Island to make a satellite chapter. There are some active guys on Mud from the Island right now. The key is the time and energy part...

I'll be talking to Ron Kolody this coming week and discuss how he structures his course, and where he wants to hold the sessions. Once we get that, we can survey the interested people and try to set something up.
Also, Ron will try to communicate with me over radio while we are at Clear Creek, Sunday Jan 29, (I am camping overnight) to see what the reception is like and also whether I can reach a Chilliwack repeater from there in case of any emergencies. I spoke to him last night VHF both simplex and duplex repeater, and my hand held seemed to work OK.

Yup, Greg, all we need are a couple of leaders to kick start things. I'm a helper, not a leader, so it won't be me. An active family and demanding work still come before Cruisers.

Hopefully I'll meet more Island Cruiser people on the trails with the Island Rock Crawlers club, and online on Mud and Island4x4.

For now, I'll attend and help out at the Coastal Cruisers events that I can attend, and when I'm more experienced I hope to be able to contribute to the club by helping to organize trips to the Island for the mainlanders.
