Well Dbenke, Ttahara, and myself met in Mt Pleasant for breakfast. Nobody else showed so no meeting was held.
We then brave the cold to Dbenke's home and garage...and promptly got "Mystique" out of the cold. The heater he had definitely made it toasty in there as quickly the jacket and insulated shirt and stocking cap came off.
Lifted the rear end...removed tires and brake drums....removed rear diff cover, scraped gasket, removed axles and other parts not needed such as spider gears.
Got her all back together....measured tolerances between internals.....got her bolted back up and drove around block a couple times.
My tolerances were in lower portion of acceptable limits....if it was broken into thirds it would be in the lower portion of the middle third....so I was good in all instances.
Drove around with window down, radio off and heard a VERY FAINT clicking as I turned each corner. Out on road drove normal and felt nothing out of ordinary. With window up I cannot hear a thing from diff...no radio just sound of transmission and engine to keep me company as I drove home to West Ashley.
Dbenke also painted my diff cover to match my Land Cruiser so it is a pretty blue. He wanted pink or purple but my FJC is gone and those colors were more suitable to that one or so BBQBoy always said. LOL
Thanks DBENKE for the hospitality, guidance, tools, and use of your very warm heated work area...as it would have been miserable out in that wind and cold on the wet ground otherwise. Thanks again.
