I just purchased a James Baroud Explorer tent. It is a great thing, well made, however the styrene smell from the polyester shell is absolutely unbearable. It smells like the tent was cast yesterday. We couldn't sleep inside at all, and I have a high tolerance for such things. I have worked with polyester resins a lot and I know this would need weeks, if not months to disappear. I find it astonishing that they did not cure/heat the resin for the smell to disappear before shipping the tent, as it is unusable, if not outright harmful now. Has anyone else experienced this problem with James Baroud tents? I sent them an e-mail, I am waiting for a reply, but in the meantime if anyone knows a fix (apart from letting the tent sit open in the sun for a month), please share.

Wow, following and hoping you can get this resolved.

Well, now is more than a day after I got an automatic read receipt for the e-mail I sent to them (which was practically identical to the OP), and they did not even reply. I guess it is safe to assume that they are not going to do anything about this and I will be on my own with a 3K$ unusable tent. This is going to be obviously my first and last purchase from them, but again, if someone knows a working fix for this problem, please share.

Leave it on top and out in the sun for a few days/weeks?

This is not a solution. It is ridiculous for a brand new premium product.
