Hi everyone,

been looking all around for a match for floor mats for the newer 70 series (2007-today's J71, J76, J78 and J79) for the left hand drive – and I am really struggling:
There is no product, neither from Toyota, nor from after-market suppliers, that fits and has the two fixing points.

The ones for the old J7 I was told do not fit, since the two fixing points have a smaller distance in the new model than in the old one:
Can't verify that though.

The autralian spec all-weather OEM Toyota floor mats would be perfect, but they are only for RHD :frown: and will not be produced for LHD, as far as I was told:

I am wondering: There are the two fixing points and the user's manual talks about floor mats, but Toyota has no floor mats for the LHD J7 in their catalogues.

What are they using in the gulf countries or in south africa? I know it's not that muddy, but dirty it is everywhere you go with a cruiser! ;)

Has anyone got a good suggestion how to solve this niche problem?

I had some OEM looking LHD mats in the FJ73. They are made by Skiner Industries in Colombia.

These are also made by Skiner and seem to have those fixing points:

Hm… I checked Skiner's catalogue and they seem to offer general mats. Which means they usually need some cutting.
It may be a bit risky to order them with all the hassle of importing and so on, just to finally find out they don't fit.

I would like something OEM-like, a real match, made by someone who knows the vehicle and the dimensions.

One could by any mat and retrofit the fixing points by cutting a hole and put them in. But that's not the solution I am looking for.
There is no OEM or OEM-like floor mats for the LHD J7 (newer gen). That void I am looking to fill.

Understandable about your concerns.

They worked good in my LHD FJ73 that came from Colombia. The mat set (front and rear) were already in it when I got it from the Colombian importer.

Unfortunately I don't think I have any pictures of the mats in the FJ73 since it has been sold a few years ago.

On another note. I had some custom mats made for my 77. I just gave the guy the layout I wanted and he cut them to fit and added a logo. I think that anyone that does custom mats for front door of a business can do this for you. It won't be the cheapest route though.

Thanks for sharing.
Those mats look OEM. Nice.
Do you by any chance find any kind of part number on the mats' front or back?
Is that a 79 SC or DC? Does it have the fixation points below the mat on the driver's side?

Is that a 79 DC? Do you have the fixation points below the mat and is it fixed? I can not figure that out from the image.
There is a source for exactly this mat, but they told me it would not fit a newer J7 (2007 - today).
If you could verify that they fit perfectly fine and can be attached with the fixation points, that would be the solution. Even though it's not rubber, but still, it's OEM and long lasting.
Can you compare your cruiser's leg room with mine here - see photos. (Sry, we're on centimeters here  – 1 inch = 2.54 cm)

EDIT: What happened, Mate, where's your steering wheel?

@FJ73Texas
Having a small series of mats produced is my last resort. If I was going to do that I will definitely promote it an all the land cruiser communities, so we can all get mats for our LHD J7.

Understandable and I wasn’t implying having multiples made. It would be a pain to have everyone agree on a style and color.

Just find a local place that makes front door mats for local business but again one set or multiple sets, it won’t be cheap.

Oh, that's my implication of course. If there is no supply it means no LHD J7 has a proper floor mat. So theoretically all those are in need.
They gonna have to look like the OEM ones, it's as simple as that for me. No pinkies, no heart deco, no colors. Just plain black rugged thick pans anchored to your heavy duty dirt-digging dinosaur.
And whoever owns and operates a 70 series is spendaholic anyways, so I'd go for quality not for cheapness.

I understand. Good luck with your search and would be interested an update to this thread to see what you end up with. I was picky about floor mats and tried different kinds and so on.

I will enjoy my hearts and pinkies with what I got for now.

I’m away from home so give me an hour or so and I’ll take a look.

I doubt these are OEM simply because only one anchor hole lines up. No part numbers either.

Hello,

As a general rule, Land Cruiser ownership is not cheap and requires a steady source of income.

Most LHD 70 Series use locally sourced floor mats. Some are good, some not so. None of them have part numbers.

What about mats from other models such as the 100/200 Series or the Hilux/Tacoma?

Juan

I’m away from the house for a few days, the mats are OEM and I believe came out of Dudai. They are hooked to the OEM mounts as they should be and fit real nice.

Hi @JuanJ
I was wondering about sourcing mats from the J10, J15 or J20 series. On pictures they look alike, but I have no other cruiser at hand to try fitting, than the GRJ76 LHD.
There is plenty of floor mats for the 200 series, so if they would fit, that would be an easy game.

That's what I want. I am still wondering, why I was told they would not fit. Strange. I'll have to investigate on this matter a bit more I guess. I like the dubai-esque make and color.

I actually gave a set of these away not long ago because the color didn’t match my interior. Kinda ironic that no one wanted LHD floor mats. 😀

Those are actually the best oem mats available , I love them and everytime I find sets in Europe I am buying them .These are way nicer then the rubber mats and on long drives will give you less fatigue on the "accelarator" heel because they are nice and soft

These are the rubber floor mats of my 1999 HZJ75 , sold new in Sweden . I think they are original . No part number stamps though .

From my experience the rubber mats don’t hold up well. They wear quickly where the heel of your shoe normally rest. Then again that might be true of any floor mat.
