so some advice is welcome. When I finished the paperwork for the FJC they offered an extended 7 yr 100,000 mile warranty. I have another coupe of weeks to decide but so far have not made a final decision.

I've never purchased an extended warranty for anything before. Always saw them as a scam. Are there opinions out there on this?

I personally wouldn't purchase one but it also depends on what price they are charging. Toyota is warrantying less and less (ask me - I know). I would keep the money and spend it on a bumper, winch, or just save it.

I bought one and never needed it. I now have 73K, however, there are some on other forums that did have early issues.
I would not buy it the 2nd time around though. If you have an issue it probably will not cost as much as the plan anyway.

I did not buy any extra warranty, but many don't know that you have a 60K/60mo powertrain warranty, beyond the 36/36 B2B warranty. I'd say save your $$$$

Just got my second rear diff under warranty and I'm at 58K.

Happy cruising!

If you decide to buy a Toyota Extended Warranty than check out the link below. I purchased a Toyota Platinum 100K warranty for my wifes Sienna for $670 from this dealer in VA (my dealer wanted more than twice that). Its completely legit. I would guess that they'll sell one for an FJ Cruiser, but you'd have to call and check. Call Scott Moss at (800)586-9682 if you are interested. Below is a link to a 4runner forum where they discuss it.

Thanks, man..I called John Ward and bought the extended after he told me there were a lot of computers in the FJC and that when he replaced his elec seat in his Tundra it was $4K. I don't have elec. seats but other stuff could go after the factory warranties run out...I've always been the plan for the worst and hope for the best kind of guy...must be all the SWAT training.

When I bought my FJC they said I could buy the extended warranty anytime before my base warranty expired.

That is true... I bought the extended warranty on my wife's Sienna at 35,500 with no problem.
