It's been a while since Owl Expedition restocked their Media Mount so I made one myself

This took me a little over an 1 hour from unbolting to getting everything buttoned back up. Pretty simple as this idea is a rather simple yet fantastic idea.

Taking apart the center stack is pretty simple, so I'll skip that.
Opened up the cassette deck after removing it from the center stack bracket and got out my calipers and measured the distances between the 4 threaded posts that was used to secure the tape deck mechanism. Length is 90mm and Width is 110mm. From there, I cut out some foam core board and made a template of sorts to see if everything lines up. I made it a take bigger to account for the screw holes so I made the base plate around 95mm x 115mm. After that was done I transferred the pattern onto some scrap aluminum sheets I had laying around

Great thing about using foam core was that I am able to push down on the post and get an indent on where the screw posts were so it made transferring that over to the metal a lot easier.

The dash are where I anticipate bending so that the tongue would exit the cassette port.

I dont have a press break so I improvised and sandwiched the aluminum between some aluminum C channel and this birch I had (metal shown as example). I was hoping that the thread pitch were similar to stand offs used on PC cases to screw down the motherboards. I was thinking of doing that and elevating the mounting area up so I wouldn't have to bend anything. But the standoffs used on the PC's are a little bigger. I bet if i searched around I can probably find the correct ones with the appropriate thread pitch. Probably could even use cylindrical spacers and use longer bolts come to think of it.

Mount is now secured and the appropriate bends to get it to exit out the tape deck.

Finished. Now I plan on making a plate that's wider and bolting it up to this tongue in order for me to mount more than one thing on the horizontal plane and not have to worry about space

I plan on ordering one of those portable android auto/apple carplay displays and mount it on this instead of having it sit on top of the dash.
