It Runs Agian

After 2 yrs of setting in the drive the old girl has new legs. I cleaned the points poured some gas in the carb and she took right off. I do need a good carb and throdle cable if anyone has one? Of course the exaust manifold leaks. I am thinking of putting a header on. Any one have any suggestions? Or recomendations? I have been looking at the JT outfitters system. I am stoked to have it going agian. I have tons more questions but 1 step at a time. Thx

I recently bought a few headers from Marks offroad. They were decent fit, not as bad as the others. Also, you'll need a hot water heat riser from ManAFre, since it does get cold here in OH.

Do you need a carb, or does the carb on there need rebuilt & tuned?

The truck is a 1970. The carb I have runs and all but you have to prime it to get it to go. It also when running sticks in spots and runs high in rpms. What do you think? I am no carb expert. Also the linkage is all hacked up so I just planed on finding a used piece. Thanks for the header tip I will check them out. Cirk

You need a 70-72 carb, complete w/ all of its throttle linkage parts. Most of the time these carbs have already been robbed of the throttle arm and the cable mounting eye. I've got a pile of them that are missing these 2 critical pieces.

You'll also need the stock 70-73 throttle cable. I recommend buying a new aftermarket one from MAF or Cruiserparts or (last resort) SOR.

Jim, does Marks offroad have a web site? I googled it but didnt see it. How much does the header normally cost? And can you get the whole system? Also I just picked up A used power steering unit off a 4x4 toyota pick up. Any one done this? And anything to watch for or hints? Thanks
