Does anyone know if it is possible to put two Itunes programs on the same Computer. My work computer crashed and so far the data is un-recoverable, including my song library. I want to add another Itunes account to my wife's computer and upload my songs there. If I connect my Ipod to my wife's Itunes, it will only let me delete the music currently on my Ipod and replace it with all of her music. I don't want to do that. :princess:

I know there are file sharing programs available for Ipods/Itunes. I suspect that may be the way I need to go. If so, does anyone have any programs to recommend?

I'm afraid if I loose my Ipod or it crashes before I get my music back on a computer, I will loose it.

Any recommendations appreciated.

BTW, new machine will have backup measures provided.

This is the program I use occasionally to take music off of friends ipods. Works really well for me.

Thanks guys. I'll give them a try.

Hate to lose all my music if my Ipod crashes or gets lost....

Jim - Google "apple support move itunes library" and you'll get to Apples recs for moving a library. Depends alot on your desktop operating system and often you want to do it.

I you are using Windows, You can open your Ipod from My computer, then select "Folder options" from the "Tools" menu. Then select the "View" tab and select "Show hidden files and folders" then a folder named "iPod control" appears. Open it, inside it is a folder named "Music". There you can see all your music in some other folders.

To make sure you do not fxxx up your Ipod I recommend that you copy the entire Music folder to your hard drive before adding it to your Itunes again.

If your Itunes preferences are set to "copy files to Itunes music folder when adding to library" Itunes will sort the songs into right folders again.

Thanks Haffi. I tried the other ways noted above with no success. Finally got all my "purchased" music uploaded, but the music burned from my CD's could not be transferred.

Another problem I had was too many CPU's authorized. I could not de-authorize my broken machine so I de-authorized all my computers and started from scratch. This allowed me to upload my purchases.

I hate this computer stuff. If it's not internal combustion, I'm lost.:confused::mad::frown::crybaby:

I am still having a problem getting the songs from my CD's off my Ipod and onto my Itune program. The purchased songs have been successfully transferred.

Haffi, your system worked good except for the songs mentioned above. Any other suggestions to get my un-purchased music off the Ipod and onto my CPU?

have you tried iPodrip? When I got my first iPod, it was used, and came full of music that was not in iTunes. I "ripped" the entire thing onto the desktop, then sorted which music I wanted to keep and which I didn't.

TRY

podworks

UPDATE:

A good cruiser buddy of mine came by and re-installed all my data, including My Music, back onto my machine and installed a stand-alone back-up hard drive. Music and all other data I had lost is no back. All is good. He had to recover my data by removing the disk in my hard drive and re-installing it in another.

Thanks for all the advice.

Hey Jim
I am in Lauderdale just finishing up a re-power
on a 112 westport I run
I am from GA and always did any cruiser work there
but now I have bought an 80 and want to find a good shop to do some work for me
lift, bumper, maybe sliders,
you know any body?
Prefer a shop that knows cruisers
Thanks,
G

Are you saying that he disassembled your harddrive? or that he removed your harddrive and installed it into another mac.

My harddrive was dis-assembled, the "wafer", as he called it, was re-installed in another harddrive for recovery. He didn't do the transplant himself. But he did all the re-installing and re-configuring of my machine.
