Hi all:

I've been lurking around for a while and figured I'd finally introduce myself. I have an '06 GX470 in the Austin metro area that is currently bone stock, sitting at about 105k. We use it was a kid hauler and tow vehicle. My wife is planning to get a new daily driver, and I'm inclined to turn the GX into a overland style vehicle, for making family / adventure trips out to Mustang Island and Big Bend in TX, and a little farther into New Mexico and Colorado, in the later of which we have a family place. The wheels are rusted and I have to replace all four tires soon, so I've been kicking around getting a set of six shooters and something larger in diameter. Once the rear bags fail I was thinking of a lift. I want to I guess increase it's off road capabilities a bit without sacrificing highway performance. Any thoughts or tips would be appreciated, and if anyone is parting out hit me up!

Thanks, and looking forward to being a member here!

First, awesome color!!

Second, stick to 17" wheels. you want good sidewalls for flex on the rough stuff. if you go too big, there isnt enough sidewall when you air down and you will ruin your rims quickly.

My suggestion is read a lot of posts and build threads to determine what you want your truck to be ultimately and what gear you want on it. Then work backwards and save the suspension for last becuase the suspension will be determined by your total loaded weight.
