Hey everyone - first post here and new to, well, all of this. Just bought a 2011 FJ with a Gobi ladder on the tailgate that I’d like to take off. Although I’ve removed the screws, the thing still feels bolted on and I’m concerned apply too much force might damage. Anyone have experience with this and able to offer tips?

I have a Gobi rack and ladder on mine, but it's been 10-12 years since I installed it. As I remember, there was a foam glue strip on the top plate that fits on the rear door; that might be giving you the resistance. Maybe try spraying some WD40 or similar around the plate to soak in and loosen the glue?
