Greetings, from this new LC owner! Just purchased a 2001 Cruiser and I am pretty grateful to own this awesome ride. I thought long and hard about what family ride to purchase: Had to be 4wd, v8, have 3rd seating, and have a modest amount of bad-assness! I checked with the basics Ford, Chevy, etc and nothing seemed right. Found this forum, read, and quickly realized Landcruiser was the only choice.
Looked for about 2 months on Craigslist in Denver and in Austin, as we were heading to see the rents in TX for the holidays. Near the end of our week long visit in A-town this beaut popped up and I jumped on it. Has a ton of miles, but the previous owner had Slee install a new(er) engine in it, tranny re-buit and had taken good care of it. Says only let it go cause the job was taking him out of country. Next day drove it 16 hrs back to CO. I was and am incredibly impressed with the smooth ride and great handling! My budget committee (read "wife") loves driving it as well
First thing I did was change the oil and filter, wash it and schedule an inspection at Slee (just dropped it off today).
This will be our hunting vehicle/family camper hauler/inclement weather commuter. May hit some light trails, but mostly want it to take me where I could not go previously!
